Students from the Thompson High School Heritage Spanish class visited Creek View Elementary ESL classes on Friday, November 21.

In an effort to help students hang on to their heritage language and not lose their native culture, the high school students read books in Spanish to groups of students in each grade level.

In addition to reading and discussing the books in their native language, they also played “Simón dice” (Simon Says).

Our Vietnamese, Chinese, Swahili, and Arabic native speakers had fun too as they were able to follow along with English versions of the books.

Ms. Sevilla and the CVES ESL team are already planning future projects between her Heritage Spanish class and the Creek View ESL students.
